Monterrey Mexican

This review was written by Don Hogan. Beth and I decided to try a new restaurant. This one is located across from East Roswell Park where I play in a USTA league. What impressed me about this place was the great service. Food was what you would expect in a good Mexican restaurant and the margaritas kind of caught up with you. I had combo #8 because I am in search of a really good tamale. This was OK, about the same as all Mexican restaurants in the area. Beth had a fried Chimichanga with beef tips that was standard fare. In addition to the really good service this place has a very good Guacamole. Fresh with hunks of avocados and tomato. This place is worth revisiting. Don Hogan 5/1/2006 Rating 4

Went back for a second time on May 6th. Food was just as good but this time we had the top shelf margarita. It was very good. It is made with Patrón silver, house tequila, Gran Marnier, margarita mix, and a splash of orange juice. Rating 5

In December 2008 the menu at Monterrey was revised and is very good. Several new items have been added and the manager Octievio takes great pride in the offerings of this restaurant. The friendly staff makes this a great place to visit! Note: This restaurant and T'kilas Tacos And More have the same owners. |

This review was written by Don Hogan. Not affiliated with the Monterrey in Roswell. Typical Mexican food. Service was prompt. We sat outside and I think that they need to do some upgrading of the furnishings. They do serve decent margaritas. I had a Jumbo Texas Margarita that I could not finish (27 oz.). 10/8/2007 Rating 3

We went to dinner with our friends Todd and Susan Folk. When we arrived the parking lot was packed with people waiting for a table. We were told that our wait would be about 45 minutes.
With so much time to kill we opted to get a pitcher of frozen margaritas to consume in the parking lot. While we drank we started up conversations with at least two other groups waiting for tables. Nice way to meet people. The margaritas went fast so we opted for another pitcher. The restaurant was pretty accurate in their estimation of our waiting time and we were seated about 45 minutes after arrival.
A third pitcher was ordered at the table, not frozen this time. Chips and salsa were pretty much as you might expect. My food order consisted of salmon and crab enchiladas, that I though were very good. Sorry I don't remember the other orders only that two of them got messed up.
The company was great, my dinner was good, margaritas were good. We probably would return with the Folks or any of our other friends. By the way, the parking lot was still jammed with people waiting for tables when we left. Best bet for a space to park is across the street. Don Hogan 5/1/2006 Rating 4
